Sushant Thapa (born on 26th February, 1993) is a Nepalese poet from Biratnagar-13, Nepal who holds a Master’s degree in English literature from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India.
He has published five books of English poetry, namely: The Poetic Burden and Other Poems (Authorspress, New Delhi, 2020), Abstraction and Other Poems (Impspired, UK, 2021), Minutes of Merit (Haoajan, Kolkata, 2021), Love’s Cradle (World Inkers Printing and Publishing, New York, USA and Senegal, Africa, 2023) and Spontaneity: A New Name of Rhyme (Ambar Publication, New Delhi, 2023).
A poem titled “Festivities” by Sushant has been published in the book Paragon English, for Grade 6 students in Nepal. It is taught in schools. The book has been approved by Curriculum Development Centre, Nepal.

Sushant has also written and published Book Reviews, Flash Fiction and Short Stories. Three of his Book Reviews were published by The Rising Nepal, which is a government owned Newspaper in Nepal. Sushant has also written poems in Nepali language and published from different medias in Kathmandu.
Sushant has also written Flash Fiction and short story for children. His Flash Fictions are published in Borderless Journal, Singapore edited by Mitali Chakravarty. His children short story entitled “The Glass Slate” was also published in Kitaab Magazine, Singapore, edited by Mitali Chakravarty.
Sushant has translated poems from Nepali to English. The book is titled “Dark Shadows” and it was published by Authorspress from New Delhi, India. The original writer was Nepalese poet Kamal Dhungana.
Sushant has also translated and published a story from Uzbekistan written by Sherzod Artikov. The story was translated to Nepali from an English translation of the story.
Few poems of Sushant have been translated into Uzbek by Sherzod Artikov and also into Latin American Spanish (they were published in Spanish in Trinando Magazine).
Sushant has recited his English Poem in Kaling Literary Festival, Kathmandu, Nepal and elsewhere (The Fertile Brains and DOIEP Poetry Festival)

Debut poetry book by Sushant entitled “The Poetic Burden and Other Poems” has been awarded Indology Best Poet Award 2022 from West Bengal, India and his third poetry book entitled “Minutes of Merit” has won Yashaswi Book Awards 2079. The award was bestowed in Kaling Literary Festival, Kathmandu 2023 (2nd edition). Recently, Sushant has been awarded Sahitto International Award for Literature 2023 under “Jury Award” Category from Bangladesh.
Sushant Thapa is a faculty of Business English and Business Communication at Nepal Business College, Biratnagar, Nepal. He is also working as an Assistant editor of Himalaya Diary, an online portal.
